Brant Cotton & The Outliers
Brant Cotton & The Outliers at Trout’s Filming for The Rockwell Opry Show
If Waylon Jennings, Gordon Lightfoot and Eric Church got together to share a drink and a heartbreak, they would probably come up with a song that sounded like a Brant Cotton-penned original. His sound is a unique blend of classic country comfort with a bold edge.
A Bakersfield California native, Brant was a founding member, lead singer and chief songwriter of the wildly popular Southern California country band, Von Cotton. Says Brant, “the group was established when I was asked to write a song for “Marines,’ a film I was working on. Notoriously country music-resistant Los Angeles not withstanding, Von Cotton quickly managed to win over an impressive number of both new and seasoned country music listeners. In a relatively short period of time the band became a regular presence at such Southern California country haunts as Swallows Inn, Mavericks and Borderline and have managed to build up an enviable fan base. In addition to local outings, fairs, festivals and Country music concert package shows, Cotton’s band was invited to play for the troops fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo. In addition, Brant’s first solo outing was opening up for country music icon, Mark Chesnutt. Brant’s songs have been featured in the movie ‘Small town Saturday Night’ starring Chris Pine and John Hawkes. and recently a Cotton-penned tuned was used in the popular CW series ‘Hart of Dixie’
