THROWBACK SIZZLING JAM FEATURING
DRU HILL, SILK, FRANKIE J, 112, NEXT and H-TOWN

Frankie J – As Frankie J, Bautista signed as a solo artist with Columbia Records and released his first album What’s A Man To Do on May 23, 2003. His self-titled first Spanish-language album Frankie J was also released later in the same year. The album’s lead single “Don’t Wanna Try” peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, while “Ya No Es Igual” went Top 10 on the World Latin charts. Later that year, he was featured in the Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Suga Suga” by rapper Baby Bash.

112– Equally rooted in gospel, soul and hip-hop, 112 was the first and most successful urban vocal group to emerge from Sean “Puffy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records roster. Not only was the group’s eponymous 1996 debut popular, but the group could be heard on records by such Bad Boy artists as Puff Daddy. Unlike most artists on Bad Boy, 112’s image was clean, pure and wholesome, which helped the group cross over to a more mainstream audience. The four members of 112 – Marvin, Daron, Q and Mike – met each other while attending high school in Atlanta, Georgia. The quartet began to play talent shows at school and local churches, eventually gaining the attention of Courtney Sills and Kevin Wales, who soon became the group’s managers. Sills and Wales brought 112 to the attention of Sean “Puffy” Combs at Bad Boy Records. Combs signed on as the executive producer of 112’s eponymous debut album
Back in the 1990s, when young singing groups roamed the earth, multi‐platinum artists Dru Hill was one of the finest bands on the planet. Called “today’s most dynamic male R&B group,” by Vibe magazine, Dru Hill is a self‐contained crew whose hits include “Tell Me,” “In My Bed,” “We’re Not Making Love,” “How Deep is Your Love” and “Beauty.”

Dru Hill – Yet, while the group topped the charts from 1996 to 2003 with their Dru Hill (1996), Enter the Dru (1998) and Dru World Order (2002), it has been seven years since Dru Hill has collectively created any new music. InDRUpendence Day, the group’s fourth disc, marks the return of the group, while also welcoming new member Antwuan “Tao” Simpson (pronounced Tay‐oh) who has replaced Woody.

Silk – Timothy Cameron, Jimmy Gates, Jr., Jonathen Rasboro, andGary Jenkins issued their debut LP, Lose Control, in 1992 and have excited urban contemporary audiences, particularly women, with their engaging harmonies and aggressively suggestive material. Their single “Freak Me” was a huge hit in 1993; two years later, the group issued a self-titled LP for Elektra, followed in 1999 by Tonight. Love Session appeared in spring 2001.

Next – The multi-platinum R&B group NEXT have been entertaining music fans with their soulful voices and energetic live performances for over 15 years. Originally from Minnesota, NEXT was first discovered by KayGee of Naughty By Nature and signed to Arista by the legendary Clive Davis and the rest, as they say, is history.

H Town – In 1992 the evolution of Rhythm and Blues was altered significantly for the world of music connoisseurs’ and millions of fans. H-Town, The Legendary Icons of R&B proudly debuted a sound synonymous with universal acclaim , skillfully rocketed several hit singles to chart topping success, humbly acquired the longevity of mass audience appeal and righteously maintained a powerful presence on the spectra of performance entertainment and have been firmly grounded in the spotlight for nearly two decades.
