Oildorado Days
Taft, California celebrates its birthday once every five years, but what a celebration it is! The next Oildorado celebration will be October 9-18, 2015.
The city of Taft’s birthday bash pays homage to the hardy men and women who migrated to this dusty southwestern corner of the San Joaquin Valley when oil seeps were detected shortly after the turn of the century. Oildorado runs for 10 days, and it has something for everyone. Previous events have included a grand parade, melodrama, queen pageant, entertainment, barbecues, dances, motorcycle races, car show, civic luncheon, carnival, World War II aircraft exhibit and fly-in, art and craft fair, oilfield skills contests and much more. Stay tuned for more information on the 2015 celebration!
Oildorado is planned and carried out by an all-volunteer non-profit corporation with plenty of help from local schools, clubs, churches, and service and fraternal organizations that sponsor events and activities and raise some money to boot. Oildorado, Inc. coordinates the many activities that make up the celebration and raises funds for the next event.
